GenZine’s bi-annual gender equity art and discussion magazine is set to have its third issue launch Friday, June 8 at St Albans Community Centre, from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

The GenZine project is based right here in Brimbank, giving young people a place to explore, discuss and provide a safe space to open conversations around gender equity through art and ideas.

GenZine is a small not-for-profit group that has been funded to release four issues so far by Brimbank City Council and is partnered with Victoria University.

The launch evening has come together to be a wholesome event where contributors will share their art, music, poetry and energy with snacks provided. Anyone is welcome to head along to the free event.

Hannah who is one third of the GenZine team spoke to Star Weekly on what it’s all about, “We’re kind of an intersection of community and gender equity, one manifestation of that is the GenZine Magazine.”

Emily, Charlotte and Hannah are the team behind the project and are aiming to put community at the centre of their work, “we are nothing without community and then second to that is the art and discussion magazine, as well as the events,” said Hannah.
