Major projects in Brimbank were overlooked in the Victorian 2022-23 state budget on Tuesday.
While Brimbank council was calling for significant funding for projects such as the Sunshine transport superhub and additional funds for the Calder Freeway upgrade, there was no money for either project in this year’s budget.
St Albans Heights Primary School is the big winner in Brimbank, with the school to receive $13.45 million to modernise the school.
Funding for signal upgrades at the intersection of McIntyre Road and Phoenix Street in Sunshine North also received funding.
The budget also included funding for the land acquisition of a future school in Fraser Rise. Funding was also allocated for the part upgrade of Melton Highway in Plumpton.
Several projects that have previously been announced will receive significant parts of the allocated funding in this financial year.
The Sunshine Law court will receive the remaining $10.3 million of its $16.3 million budgeted to redevelop the court with the project expected to be finished in early 2023.
An alcohol and other drugs residential rehabilitation treatment in St Albans will receive $6.03 million of its $9.42 million funding with the project expected to be completed this financial year.
Other projects that have previously been announced and will receive funding this financial year include the redevelopment of Furlong Park School For Deaf Children in Sunshine North, Sunshine Special Developmental School, Jackson School, Keilor Heights and Sunshine primary schools.
