The Sunshine Street Band has called on some local star power to take part in a music workshop this month.
Robert Jackson of the Legless Lizards will lead a free music workshop which is open to the community.
Sunshine Street Band member Peter Hinton said the workshops are a great way to enter the musical community.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone to come down, have a look and get involved,” Mr Hinton said.
“We play a New Orleans-style of music, so it’s simple, easy to play.
“We also welcome all sorts of instruments and even singing, so there really is something for everyone.”
People of all abilities are encouraged to attend the workshop and all instruments, from brass, woodwind and percussion are welcome.
The workshop will be the first of three this year.
“We practice every second Tuesday, but holding community workshops like this gives us the opportunity to show people what we do and even encourage them to get involved,” Mr Hinton said. “We don’t have an audition process and don’t require any strong commitment.”
The workshop will be held at the St Albans Community Centre on Saturday, February 24 from 11am. For further information call Mr Hinton on 0413 623 683.
