A Derrimut yoga studio is hoping to stretch new participants to their limits with a series of free classes.
Carja Yoga is celebrating international yoga day and will be hosting free classes all day from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30.
Free classes for beginners and children will also be held from the beginning of July.
The studio recently celebrated its second birthday and founders Caroline, Jennifer and Rodrigo say it’s been a dream come true.
The three founders grew up in the western suburbs with humble beginnings.
Sisters Caroline and Jennifer, miserable and feeling imprisoned by their full-time corporate careers, decided to travel to India as an escape from life’s challenges.
There they discovered yoga and from then on harboured the ambition to open a yoga studio, to serve the community.
They say there are no barriers to participation and Nancy Evans, 74 years old, is true testament to that.
“I knew I had to start somewhere. I am more flexible and have greater range of motion,” Ms Evans said.
“I can move in ways I couldn’t before. I always feel amazing and so good after a class at the studio.”
Bec Hingert, a survivor of lymph node and liver cancer said yoga helped her healing process.
“Since starting yoga, my family and friends have noticed a significant change in me for the better,” she said.
