Four arrested following alleged armed robberies

Police arrested four people following a series of alleged armed robberies in Melbourne’s west on Tuesday, July 22.

It’s believed the group were involved in four robberies at bottle shops and service stations in Tottenham, Derrimut and Tarneit on the same day.

During each of the incidents, the group presented at least one edged weapon and made demands for cash, cigarettes and stole alcohol, according to police.

The group fled from each location in an allegedly stolen Audi sedan.

Police will allege the group targeted a service station on Fitzgerald Road in Derrimut about 8.15pm and a bottle shop on Sunshine Road in Tottenham about 8.50pm.

Police will also allege the group targeted two service stations in Tarneit– one Davis Road about 11pm and another on Leakes Road about 11.10pm

Nobody was physically injured during the incidents.

Police spotted the Audi on Leakes Road and with assistance from the Air Wing, it was followed along the Princes Freeway and through various back streets of Spotswood, Yarraville and Seddon, before coming to a stop on Chatham Street in Footscray.

An 18 year-old Werribee man, a 19-year-old Wallan man, a 20-year-old Glenroy man and a 17-year-old boy from the Merri-bek area were arrested and are expected to be interviewed.
