Police are hoping dashcam footage or CCTV cameras can help with their investigation into the death of a Sydenham woman earlier this month.
Vicki Ramadan, 77, was found dead in her Sydenham home on April 6.
The last known sighting of her was about 9.45am on Monday, April 1, on Gourlay Road, Hillside.
Homicide Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper revealed last week that Ms Ramadan was seen walking towards the Melton Highway.
“We’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward or anyone who was passing this area … to check their dashcam footage,” Detective Inspector Stamper said.
“It would be too far for Vicki to walk from Gourlay Road to her home so we have to ask how did she get home?
“What we are also interested in, is if anyone can provide details of any suspicious activity in and or around Vicki’s Marlborough Way home and if anyone has seen Vicki since this last sighting until when her body was found nearly a week later.”
Police said Ms Ramadan was often seen walking and was known to use public transport, in particular buses and taxis.
They said Ms Ramadan frequented Watergardens Town Centre, where she was well-known by traders.
“There are many questions still to be answered with this investigation, including a possible motive, so it’s crucial we hear from the public. We’d like to provide the family with answers and find the person who has brutally taken Vicki’s life,” Detective Inspector Stamper said.
Police are also investigating if her house was broken into or if she let someone she knew into her home.
Detective Inspector Stamper said though Ms Ramadan was distant from her family, they were “very co-operative” with the investigation. “Obviously, they’re devastated and want some answers,” he said.
