A series of workshops in Melton will teach residents and business owners about “mindfulness”.

The first session, run by The Organic Place on March 2, will focus on the basics including what mindfulness is and its benefits, the four foundations of mindfulness, stress management and meditation practices and techniques to help small business owners manage financial concerns.

The Organic Place owner Brooke Findley, a former nurse who will facilitate the workshops, said she wants to share her experiences with the community.

“This type of formal mindfulness practice will help build up new neural pathways in the brain to create better focus and confidence to work through challenges,” Ms Findley said.

“We’re in such a busy lifestyle and we don’t know how to switch off … once we learn how to switch off we are able to see things clearly.”

Ms Findley, who started her business after she discovered her youngest child had severe food allergies, said that she employs a holistic approach to all aspects of her life.

“I’ve always been interested in meditation and have only recently started applying mindfulness techniques to my business,” she said.

“It puts me in a completely different headspace that makes me more productive.”
