Brimbank residents have been given their first look at the new health and wellbeing hub that will replace the St Albans Leisure Centre, with designs for the project unveiled by the council.
The hub is tipped to cost more than $60 million, with the leisure centre scheduled to close in April 2020. Construction of the hub is expected to begin in June 2020.
Schematic designs for the project were recently released by the council, revealing a modern facility complete with two water slides, a 50-metre pool, a splash pad for the kids and a state-of-the-art gym.

Mayor Lucinda Congreve said the schematic designs were part of the early design phase.
“From the outside, the building’s appearance and shape has taken inspiration from the iconic and strong form of the Organ Pipes rock formations which can be found in Brimbank,” she said.
The hub will also include a leisure and learn-to-swim pool, a warm water pool with adjoining spas, dry and steam saunas, group fitness rooms, a wellness centre and a community program room.
“The aquatic and leisure facilities, alongside a range of preventative health, education and social services to be delivered by co-located tenants under the same roof is what will set this hub apart from others,” Cr Congreve said.
