Fire destroys convenience store in Deer Park

Police are investigating a fire that destroyed a convenience store in Deer Park on Monday night.

Emergency services were called to a fire at the Dumfries Street store about 11.30pm.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Police do not believe the fire is linked to the recent spate of arson attacks across Melbourne.

A crime scene guard is in place at the store and an arson chemist will attend later today to examine the scene.
