Finding home in Sunshine

Artist Paul Borg with some of his work exhibited at Brimbank civic centre.

A powerful exhibition that explores people, place and experiences is on display at the Brimbank Community and Civic Centre.

Artist Paul Borg said the pieces were carefully chosen to resonate with the audience.

“I think everyone has a different concept of home, so each piece is made up of elements everyone who grew up in suburbia can relate to,” Borg said.

“For example, one piece features my father out in his backyard with his vegetables. So many people have come up and told me it’s just like their backyard or that their father had a similar garden.

“These are mainly pieces which involve people and places in my life and I really think they all feature an element the audience will relate to.”

The exhibition,

Finding Home, is located on level one of the centre, and will run until July 13.

It will be open from 8.45am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Borg has been an active member of Brimbank’s art community for a number of years and is mentoring the next generation of artists.

“I run painting and drawing classes from my St Albans studio on a weekly basis,” he said.

“There’s not a lot of options when it comes to art schools out here, so it’s combining a passion and giving a bit back.”
