The Melbourne Airport Rail Link has been signed-off – meaning one of the largest infrastructure projects Brimbank has ever seen is one its way.
The Sunshine Station super hub will be a centrepiece of the long-touted rail link, with Brimbank council looking for the community to join it in lobbying.
Cr Virginia Tachos said the opportunities stemming from the project could be limitless for Brimbank – if done right.
“This is a big key investment piece for our municipality,” she said. “It cannot be underestimated the value it will bring to Brimbank.
“We have a seat at the table so we can pursue our priorities and outcomes and leverage and maximise the benefits for our Brimbank community.”
The council has developed initial design principles for the Sunshine Station super hub and a draft response strategy that sets out a program of work to inform delivery of the Western Rail Plan (of which the Airport Rail Link is a major component).
