Fashion on show in Macedon

The Gallery’s beloved fashion parade is celebrating 20 years.

For the past two decades, every July the best display of local fashion is exhibited, with the public invited to see makers and gallery members have their creations modelled on the catwalk.

The Art to Wear Parade will feature creative designs by 25 talented makers from across the state, with a unique collection of handmade clothing, jewellery and various accessories.

Alongside the parade at Juilbee Hall, the art won’t stop inside the walls, with a display of kimonos to rival the NGV’s in the foyer.

To complement the parade, once again the champagne afternoon tea will be part of the proceedings, so its the perfect opportunity to gather some friends, enjoy some bubbles and enjoy a show.

Sue Anson, who handles publicity for The Gallery, said the parade is a must-see.

“It will be quite a lovely afternoon… have a champagne when you arrive and you’ll be treated to a lovely parade of Victorian handmade garments,” she said.

Ms Anson said that one of the artists featured will be local Colleen Weste, who help create the parade 20 years ago alongside the late Joan Burke.

All garments not sold on the day will be featured at The Gallery in Mount Macedon during July.

The Art to Wear Parade will be taking place on Saturday July 5 at 1pm to 3pm at Juilbee Hall in Macedon, with tickets costing $30 and only available online.
