Two years on from a devastating hit and run incident, which left Albanvale grandfather Nick Topia bleeding to near death on the side of a road, his family are still looking for answers.

Mr Topia’s life has been completely changed since he was seriously injured in the hit and run at Station Road, Deer Park, on January 1, 2021, which resulted in him spending many months in hospital and losing a leg. The family is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Police released an image of the SUV involved, possibly a Ford Territory, which investigators believe may have had two female occupants at the time of the incident.

Mr Topia was out on his Harley Davidson when he was struck.

His daughter, Tiffany, said he was dragged 100 metres down the road, causing extensive leg injuries and damage to blood vessels.

He spent 10 days in induced comas in hospital after and had numerous surgeries.

“It has been two years on and we are asking any witnesses to please come forward with any information they may remember or forgot to tell the police. Anything may help us find those responsible. We just want justice for our dad,” she said.

“It has been now been two years of no one coming forward. Two years of no one being held accountable for what they did. Two years of watching my dad still try to adjust and come to terms with his new life. Two years of my dad not being able to get on the floor and play with his grandkids like he would. Two years of being on twenty tablets a day and two years of my dad having setbacks medically.”
