Deer Park based explosives manufacturer Orica is leveraging its facility to help the community fight COVID-19.

The company is producing and donating hand sanitiser, to support those most in need during the pandemic.

The company has utilised the technical expertise of its Emulsifiers team and the raw materials available to them, to produce over 1000 litres of hand sanitiser.

As part of this initiative, 250 litres of sanitiser have already been donated to Meals on Wheels and over the next three months 750 litres will be donated to Libraries Victoria, to distribute to local libraries across Victoria.

Orica’s vice president of human resources across Australia Asia Pacific Jasmine Doak said it was an easy decision to make.

“We realised we had an opportunity to combine our team’s knowledge, engineering and laboratory expertise to manufacture hand sanitiser and help combat the shortage experienced in the community over the last few months,” she said.

“Our teams across the business worked tirelessly to get this initiative off the ground, to ensure we could get this sanitiser to local groups as quickly as possible and ease the strain on supply across the community and the state.”

She said the donation is part of our on-going commitment to the community.
