Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a house fire in Northumberland Road, Sunshine North at about 5:05am this morning.
The fire is believed to have been sparked by an electric bar heater which ignited bedding.
The three occupants in the home were able to safely evacuate prior to FRV arriving, with no reported injuries.
Following a single call to triple-0, crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find flames and smoke coming from the rear section of the home.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, bringing the incident under control within 55 minutes and containing the fire to the rear of the home.
Firefighters remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
An advice message was issued for smoke in the area.
Residences were alerted by a working smoke alarm.
