Election pledge for Keilor Sports Club

The Keilor Sports Club will be able to add another $700,000 to its upgrade and expansion fund, if Labor is re-elected at the state election on November 26.

Niddrie MP Ben Carroll said Labor would commit to providing $700,000 for the upgrade to the club’s outdated and inadequate facilities.

As reported by Star Weekly, the club received $50,000 in the 2022-23 Brimbank council budget to design and cost the redevelopment of the Joe Brown Reserve facility.

Mr Carroll said the clubrooms were originally built in 1986 and were in need of a “big upgrade”.

“Local sporting clubs are the heart of Keilor – they bring communities and families together, with KSC organising cricket, football, athletics and life activities,” he said.

“KSC has created a welcoming and supportive environment that ensure people from childhood to 100 can be social and active.

“Labor will deliver funding to ensure KSC can continue thriving within the community, with a new kitchen and club bathrooms in the plans.”

Keilor Sports Club president Hayden Kelly said the funding pledge would kick-start the project.

“We will continue to work with Brimbank council and federal government to provide the additional funding needed to bring the project to fruition,” Mr Kelly said.
