Eight arrested over threats to police officers

A Keilor man and a Hillside woman are among those who have been charged with allegedly making online threats towards police officers.

Police executed search warrants across the state on Friday morning as part of an investigation into several threats allegedly made about Victoria Police officers on social media, mobile devices and email following a rally on August 21.

Properties in Keilor, Hillside and Mickleham were among those searched, with eight people arrested.

A 35-year-old Hillside woman was charged with intimidation of a law enforcement officer, use of a telecommunications device to harass and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

A 33-year-old Keilor man was charged with intimidation of a law enforcement officer.

Both were bailed to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation into the alleged online threats remains ongoing.
