Driver caught doing 100 km/h over speed limit

A speeding driver is facing court after being clocked driving almost 100 kilometres over the speed limit in Sunshine West.

The 26-year-old Altona Meadows man was caught travelling at 196 km/h in a 100 km/h speed zone on the Western Highway, city bound, around 1.40am last night.

Brimbank Highway Patrol impounded his 2005 Holden Commodore after he initially failed to stop but eventually pulled over for police.

Senior Constable Ken Zeffert said police were sick of local drivers travelling at “crazy speeds” and using roads as a race track.
