Drink driver caught speeding through Hoppers Crossing

A drink driver caught speeding through Hoppers Crossing in the early hours of this morning has had his Maserati impounded.

Police intercepted the 36-year-old Caroline Springs man after he was detected driving at 140km/h in a 60km/h zone along Derrimut Road just after midnight.

The driver is also alleged to have driven straight through a red traffic light at the intersection of Derrimut and Leakes roads.

He returned a positive blood alcohol content reading of 0.141 and had his black Maserati Levant SUV impounded for 30 days at a cost of $923.40. His licence was also immediately suspended.

The man is expected to be charged on summons with one count of drink driving and other traffic related offences.
