Derrimut man bashed and abducted

A 34-year-old man has been left with a broken arm and leg after a serious assault in Derrimut just after 4am this morning in what police believe could be a case of mistaken identity.

The Derrimut man was walking toward Deer Park train station on Derrimut Road when he noticed two men running toward him, police say.

He started to run and the two men followed him in a white station wagon.

The man stumbled and the two men approached him and began hitting him with a baseball bat before he was put into the rear of the vehicle and driven around for about 10 minutes.

The victim was driven to a vacant block of land on Fuller Road in Ravenhall where he was again assaulted with the baseball bat and his wallet was stolen.

The victim went to a nearby business where he asked for help and police were called.

He was taken to hospital with a broken arm and leg and a chipped tooth.

He told investigators while he was in the car he heard one of the men say, in what’s believed to be an Asian language, that they “had the wrong guy”.
