A significant fire that blazed through a factory in Derrimut on Friday 9 January will be investigated.
Fire Rescue Victoria responded to the blaze on East Derrimut Crescent, Derrimut with the response initially escalated.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke issuing from a factory, around 30m by 50m, with a fire at the western end of the building.
Firefighters set up for a defensive attack on the fire due to structural collapses of the building involved.
Four patients were treated for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital while neighbouring businesses were evacuated.
The incident was deemed under control at 1.28pm and a community warning has been issued for smoke
Paramedics and police were on the scene for firefighter welfare and traffic management respectively.
The Environment Protection Authority and WorkSafe were notified
