UPDATE: Traffic is back to normal on the Western Ring Road earlier this morning.
The accident on the E.J Whitten Bridge caused massive delays on the Western Ring Road Altona-bound.
Three lanes were closed due to the multi-car collision.
Delays are building quickly, with traffic now as far back as the Tullamarine Freeway.
Traffic heading in the opposite direction is also slow, while Sunshine Avenue is also busy due to the accident.
Drivers are being warned to allow for extra time travelling through the area or consider alternative routes.
