A Deer Park man has been charged with firearm and drug offences after a warrant was executed yesterday afternoon.
Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives seized several firearms, ammunition, suspected drugs and cash after the man was arrested in Deer Park by the Special Operations Group.
The arrest followed an incident earlier in the day in Albanvale where it was reported a man allegedly discharged a firearm from a moving vehicle toward another moving vehicle on Concord Circuit about 9.50am.
No one was injured during the incident which was believed to be targeted.
Detectives investigating the alleged shooting executed a warrant at Stevenage Crescent, Deer Park, on Wednesday about 4pm.
A search of the property is alleged to have uncovered seven handguns, two long arms, a silencer, an improvised explosive device, large amounts of ammunition, suspected ecstasy tablets and cash.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at the address and was later charged with six counts of possessing an imitation firearm, two counts of possessing an unregistered long arm, making a false document, two counts of possessing prohibited weapons, possessing ammunition without a licence, possessing a handgun, possessing an explosive substance and possessing unlicensed long arm.
The man was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
