Dead body found in Caroline Springs

Residents of a Caroline Springs house were met with a grisly scene last night after finding the body of a man and a trail of blood on the road outside their house.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre said the body, believed to be that of a 36-year-old Caroline Springs man, was discovered about 10pm in Caravel Lane.

He said paramedics were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead when they arrived.

Homicide squad detectives spent the night combing a large area fanning out from Caravel Lane and police have spoken to a number of residents but have been unable to piece together the circumstances leading to the man’s death.

“We’ve conducted inquiries in the area and no one has been able to give us any explanation as to how that man has gotten into the location where we’ve found him,” Senior Sergeant McIntyre said.

“We’ve got an extended blood trail that runs from Caravel Lane into the eastern side of the lake along The Esplanade. The scene is quite extensive; we’ll be making inquiries with the neighbourhood and searching the crime scene for some time.

“At this point in time we’re asking anyone who may have any CCTV footage or who may have seen or heard any noise before 10pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” he said.
