Day to celebrate women

The Women’s Support Network (WSN) invites all women in Brimbank to attend its event on International Women’s Day on Wednesday March 8 at the Deer Park Hall.

WSN president Reeta Verma said the brand new network will aim to create connections for women from all backgrounds to better support the community in future.

“Our vision is to create connections with women from all cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic backgrounds, and inspire women from all ages from younger to older, to help them to create a vibrant, articulate, inclusive, and sustainable community across Victoria and Melbourne’s west,” Verma said.

The event will begin at 10am and run until 12pm.

The group is hoping that the event could lead to new initiatives.

“Our mission is to provide opportunities to connect with each other and to identify programs and services that support women, particularly vulnerable women,” she said.

“We believe that if each one of us are united and work together, we can help, support, strengthen and empower women.”

The network looks to support women and women who may also be in a vulnerable situation.

“The WSN aims to support women in vulnerable conditions and help them create a prosperous, equitable, peaceful, and stable society in the west where women and girls can live, work and volunteer without any prejudice and fear,” she said.
