Dancing from Sunshine to the world stage

Alvin De Castro has always had a connection to dance through his Filipino heritage, but it wasn’t until the loss of his mother that he started chasing his dreams professionally.

“Her passing made me realise life is too short… She came to my shows all the time and i remember thinking I wish she was able to see this now”

Alvin moved to Los Angeles and was signed with MSA Agency almost immediately, dancing and choreographing music videos with celebrities such as Dua Lipa, Eminem, G-eazy, Dillon Francis, Kelis and Daddy Yankee.

“In LA my first ever audition was for a Dua Lipa and Miguel music video and I booked it which will always really special to me”

Prior to L.A, Alvin’s first time on a stage was at a Braybrook talent show, years later applied for So You Think You Can Dance Australia and was invited to become a choreographer rather than contestant with the show instead, Alvin says this changed the trajectory of his life.

Growing up most of his life in his North Sunshine family home, it was that very garage and around the suburbs of Brimbank where his champion dance troupe Beatphonik would practice regularly, polishing off their award winning routines.

Now splitting his time between Sunshine, Melbourne, Sydney, and LA where he is signed to MSA Agency and dances with L.A. Establishment.

While back in Sunshine for now he wants to cement to the youth in the community that they can really achieve anything, “I want to express to young people to express themselves, you can be from Sunshine and travel the world… Just do whatever you want.” said Alvin.
