Derrimut Dance Studio students are peparing to deliver the performance of their lives.
The studio’s junior and intermediate students have been invited to perform in popular dance show Beats on Pointe.
Derrimut Dance Studio owner Stephanie Pickering said excitement was reaching fever pitch as the April 21 show approached.
“The students are absolutely ecstatic to be given the opportunity to perform at something like this,” she said.
“All the kids watch the show and one girl squealed when I told her we’d been selected to perform. We’re all really excited.”
Ms Pickering said a lot of hard work was going in to making the performance one to remember.
“We’ve got 22 performers aged between eight and 14 taking part in the event and we’ve put a routine together especially for this,” she said.
“We’re all really pleased with how it looks. It’s probably my favourite routine we’ve done at the studio.”
The Beats on Pointe performance is a unique opportunity for the students, but Ms Pickering said it would also help with her vision of integrating the school into the community.
“I’m really big on getting the students to get involved with the local community and this is such an exciting way for us to go about doing that,” she said.
“Last year, we performed at a fundraiser and going on from this I’m keen to do some performances at local schools.”
Beats on Pointe comes to the Quin Auditorium at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College on Saturday, April 21, as part of a national tour. Tickets, details: mastersofchoreography.com/beats-on-pointe-2/
