UPDATE:

Two separate grassfires near the Calder Freeway in Taylors Lakes are now under control.

Firefighters were first called to Rowlandson Place just before 3.30pm following reports of a car fire in a paddock, which quickly spread into a fast moving grassfire.

Initial Fire Rescue Victoria crews, including a pumper tanker, arrived on scene by 3.32pm and the response was quickly escalated.

The fire was brought under control about 5pm, with emergency services remaining on the scene.

There were approximately 70 firefighters working together to get the fire under control.

Firefighters were then called to a home on Rowell Place following reports a grassfire was approaching the back fence

A crew on board a pumper appliance arrived on scene within six minutes and immediately set about protecting the nearby homes.

There are currently seven FRV firefighting appliances on scene at Rowell Place. That fire was declared under control about 4.30pm

The fire at Rowlandson Place is travelling from Calder Park in a south-westerly direction towards Taylors Lakes.
