Two Sunshine properties housing Brimbank council’s offices and library are not expected to be sold until the second half of next year, at the earliest.
The council voted in July to sell the properties at Alexandra Avenue and McCracken Street. The properties, on 1.8 hectares, have been zoned general residential.
Star Weekly reported in July, that the land is owned by both VicTrack (6294 square metres) and the council (10,070 square metres).
At the time, the council said that sale profits of the land could be shared.
Last week, a VicTrack spokesman said the organisation “may” be involved in a joint sale with the council.
“The valuation of the land will be carried out in mid-2016, leading into a public sale campaign,” he said.
“At this time, there are no plans for VicTrack or council to purchase each other’s land.
“It means the land parcels may be sold in separate sales or as one sale.”
Sunshine-based council staff are expected to be relocated to the new Brimbank Community and Civic Centre, on Hampshire Road, in the third quarter of next year.
According to a council report, the most appropriate future use of the Sunshine site would be for residential purposes in the form of medium- density housing.
