Brimbank councillor Ranka Rasic has called for more safety barriers to be installed along Kings Road to protect the community from road accidents.

“Safety is important and that’s why I am calling on the government to extend their road safety barriers with installations along Kings Road,” Cr Rasic said during this week’s council meeting.

“Whether it’s on Kings Road in Taylors Lakes, Delahey, St Albans or Kings Park, this is a very dangerous stretch of road that needs barriers installed urgently.”

Cr Rasic expressed her concerns for the current state of the road.

“I have seen near misses, tragic collisions, and even an air ambulance helicopter landing on Kings Roads because of crashes that could have been avoided if safety barriers were there to protect our community,” she said.

Cr Maria Kerr commended Cr Rasic’s concern in the meeting, as she called on Roads and Road Safety Minister Ben Carroll to address the matter.

“I would like to call on the honorable Ben Carroll to take the safety of a part of his electorate and also our local area of Brimbank very seriously,” Cr Kerr said.

“And I call on the state government to take the concerns seriously considering the amount of near misses and fatalities that we have seen on this stretch of road.”
