Brimbank residents will be able to attend this month’s council meeting in person for the first time in more than a year.

The council said the May 18 meeting at the council chamber in Sunshine will be the first meeting the community has been able to attend since March last year.

All meetings since then have been streamed online via Zoom.

Councillors have been attending meetings in person at the chambers since the start of the council term in November.

Brimbank advocacy partnerships and community director Dan Hogan said that residents would be able to watch the meeting in a number of different ways.

“People will be able to attend the May council meeting in person, in a public gallery, while observing social distancing,” he said.

“This will continue for future meetings, unless further COVID-19 restrictions are announced by the state government.

“Council will also continue to livestream the council meetings via Zoom for the foreseeable future.

“As per our standard operating procedure, council meetings will continue to be recorded and published to the council website and YouTube, and will be available to be streamed on demand in the days following a meeting.”
