Brimbank council has committed almost half a million dollars toward community groups for the 2017-18 year.
The council announced $453,000 in community grants funding to support 75 community organisations to run activities, programs and events until the middle of next year, with new mayor Margaret Giudice excited to support so many different aspects of the Brimbank community.
“Our Community Grants Program provides one-off financial assistance to support current and emerging communities through activities, programs and events that help strengthen the community,” Cr Giudice said.
“This year we received 113 applications and have been able to support 75 of these applications with $453,707 in community grants to support their various programs, activities and events.”
Council increased grant funding by $180,000 from last year to better meet demand for support from the community.
“Our community is one that likes to celebrate, so we’re happy to be able to make this possible by supporting more community festivals and events this year,” Cr Giudice said.
“We look forward to seeing the successes that come from these successful grants over the next year.”
