Mental health and young people’s involvement among the priorities for Brimbank council’s community grants program, with applications now open.
Eligible local, not-for-profit community groups and organisations can now apply to share in a pool of $600,000 in the Brimbank Community Grants Program 2022-2023.
The grants help to deliver projects that improve Brimbank’s health and wellbeing, sustainable living and community connections, council said.
There are grants available in eight categories: Community Strengthening Grants – up to $10,000; Mental Health and Wellbeing Grants – up to $10,000; Young People’s Idea Grants – up to $10,000; Climate Emergency Grants – up to $10,000; Establishment Grants – up to $1500; Community Festival and Event Grants – up to $10,000; Major Festival and Event Grants – up to $25,000, and Senior Operational Grants – up to $1000.
Mayor Jasmine Nguyen said the grants program focuses on emerging priorities in Brimbank including mental health, young people’s involvement, community connections, loneliness and isolation impacted by COVID-19 lockdowns and climate emergency.
“We’re looking for projects and activities that deliver innovative local solutions needed to strengthen community resilience and respond to ongoing and emerging challenges,” she said.
“We are encouraging young people who apply for a grant to partner with local organisations for support and guidance in developing and implementing projects that will benefit Brimbank youth.
“Local community groups and organisations make a significant difference in connecting people to health and wellbeing opportunities and Council wants to support these efforts.”
Applications close Sunday, August 14.
