Greater Western Water (GWW) has launched a new community grants and sponsorship program that will invest in local projects, events and activities.

The program is aimed at making the region a great place to live, by creating more opportunities for community groups to participate and succeed.

The Thriving Communities program was established as part of GWW 2030 Strategy, with the commitment to seeing people and Country thrive over the next decade.

Through GWW’s Thriving Communities grants and sponsorship program, local organisations and community groups are encouraged to apply for funding before applications close at the end of October 2022.

Funding will be available in three different programs that are locally led and deliver a clear community benefit.

These programs include local community sponsorships up to $5000, community grants up to $20,000 and strategic community sponsorships up to $75,000 over three years.

GWW strategy and partnerships general manager Kessia Thomson said supporting local initiatives through grants and sponsorships can help empower and bring people together.

“Our service area is diverse, vibrant and growing. Giving people the opportunity to get involved in the region and to feel a sense of belonging is more important than ever,” she said.

Ms Thomson said as a large employer and provider of essential services, GWW has played an important leadership role in helping communities thrive.

“Whether it be an inclusive opportunity for people to gather and celebrate, a research project helping local industry to thrive, or a partnership supporting liveability and wellbeing, we want to collaborate with our communities to help them achieve their potential,” she said.
