Victoria Police at Sunshine Station has resumed its ‘Coffee with a Cop’ program following a reduction in covid commitments, meaning greater interaction with locals can occur.

The program is aimed at Police having a more visible presence in the community and being able to discuss concerns and provide feedback between police and locals in a relaxed setting.

Sunshine Police Station acting senior sergeant Lauren Williams said it is pleasing to have the program back again.

“We are happy to have Coffee with a Cop back up and running now that our COVID commitments have significantly reduced,” Ms Williams said.

“The purpose of Coffee with a Cop is for police to get out there and have a visible presence in the community and to be able to speak with community members on a more personal level and discuss any concerns, receive feedback, in a relaxed setting.

“It was great to be out and about again with time to sit down and meet the public, especially young families where the children have not had the opportunity to see a police officer in person over the last couple of years.”

Victoria Police encourages the community to come along and have a chat with police.

“Coffee with a Cop is an ongoing program, scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month,” she said.

“Each month’s session will be hosted by a different vendor within the shopping centre and will be advertised on the Brimbank Shopping Centre’s website.”
