Brimbank residents can take part in Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday 1 March, alongside hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country.
Brimbank council said the community can make a real difference by removing litter and leaving the local environment cleaner and healthier for everyone.
There are a number of Clean Up Australia Day events taking places across Brimbank.
A business clean up day in Brooklyn will run from 9.15-10.30am on Friday 27 February.
Participants can sign in from 9am at 174 Old Geelong Roadd, Brooklyn and should bring gloves and a water bottle.
On Sunday 1 March, locals will be removing litter and rubbish in the St Albans area.
The event will run from 9.30-11am with participants meeting at Errington Reserve (near the playground next to the Tin Shed on Main Rd East).
Individuals, families and groups are all welcome to join and should bring gloves and a water bottle.
Bags and tongs will be provided.
Friends of Iramoo will also be hosting a Clean Up Australia event at Pimelia Wildflower grassland on Sunday 1 March.
The event will run from 10am-noon at 25 Pimelea Terrace, St Albans.
Participants should wear long pants and sleeves and enclosed shoes.
Snacks, gloves and sunscreen will be provided.
Brimbank mayor Virginia Tachos said these local events provide an opportunity for residents to take part in cleaning up their local area.
“Everyone who resides in Brimbank can be proud of our beautiful public spaces,” Cr Tachos said.
“I’d like to encourage our community to get out there and lend a helping hand. Everyone’s efforts will help to reduce litter in and make Brimbank a cleaner, more enjoyable place to be.”
