People of Chin heritage gathered in Sunshine on Saturday to mark the 75th anniversary of Chin National Day.
Chin National Day commemorates the General Assembly of Chinland which was held on February, 20 1948, and saw more than 500 Chin representatives from across the Chin State in western Myanmar voting to adopt a modern democratic governing system over the traditional feudal system.
The event is an important day for Melbourne’s Chin community celebrating their unique identity, tradition and unity.
Star Weekly photographer Joe Mastroianni was there to capture the festivities which included dancing, singing, colourful costumes, craft, Chin wrestling and traditional cuisine.
