Students at Keilor Primary School sweated it out recently with a fun run to help raise funds for upgrades.

Keilor Primary School co-captain Riana said it was fantastic to see the event well supported.

“We had many students participate in this year’s fun run to help raise money for our new buildings and air-conditioners.

“It was lovely to see everyone cheer and run.”

The main goal of the event was to raise money for a heating and cooling system to be installed in the school’s new building.

However, Riana said the sense of community was the main highlight.

“It was great to see so many excited faces ready to run,” she said.

“The amount of kids who pushed themselves to run further than they could have imagined was amazing. Seeing everyone cheer for their team and even for people in other teams was heart-warming.”

Co-school captain Bekim echoed Riana’s sentiments and said the event was held in good spirits.

“I remember seeing one of my friends drenched in sweat laughing his head off. It was one of the first times I’ve heard him laugh that loud,” he said.

“The whole vibe that was coming from this event was so heart-warming. It made everyone smile the whole time: even while running.

“Winners or losers, everyone had a really great time and the amount of time people put in to help fundraise really made me look at the community differently.”
