Not keen on booking a holiday this summer, but still looking to head away?
Faced with months of lockdown and travel restrictions over the past two years, Victorians have gotten pretty good at exploring their backyard instead of jetting off across the globe.
With uncertainty about the pandemic, planning things has become even harder.
As families and individuals enjoy the summer break, Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group president David Gormley-O’Brien says everyone should maintain that mindset to get the most out of our surrounds and cut down on emissions.
“A great sustainable way to go on holiday is to go camping,” he said.
“It’s usually a lot cheaper, and you end up using less resources than going on big flights.
“When camping, you can go to places that are easily accessible. I think it’s a good wake up call to enjoy the things like cooking on an open fire. It’s almost as good Disneyland.”
