Chance to donate reusable goods to charity

Brimbank council will have a Reusable Goods Drop-Off Day on Saturday, June 18 from 9am opposite the Brimbank Operations Centre to promote a sustainable future and help those in need.

Brimbank residents will be able to drop-off a range of unwanted household items for reuse at the centre on Stadium Drive in Keilor Park.

Items in good condition will be donated to local charities, West Welcome Wagon which supports

asylum seekers and Australian Red Cross, a humanitarian aid providing community services.

Textile recycler BlockTexx will take recently washed linen such as sheets, towels and pillow cases that cannot be reused and turn it into new products.

The event will come at no-charge where residents can drop off other items in good condition for reuse including televisions, computers, bikes, homewares, clothing, shoes, backpacks and jewellery.

Other items that can be donated include small household appliances like rice cookers, toasters and kettles, furniture especially small items that will fit into small apartments and bed frames of all sizes.

Only cars, small vans or cars with trailers will be able to drop off items. No trucks or commercial

quantities will be allowed.

Brimbank mayor Jasmine Nguyen said it was a great opportunity for the Brimbank residents to support local charities.

“The Brimbank Reusable Goods Drop-Off Day is a great opportunity to support local charities and sustainability,” Ms Nguyen said.

“I really encourage residents to look through their homes and bring along items they no longer

need that are in good condition, and we’ll do the rest.”
