Celebrating seniors and carers with a month of events

Movies, theatre, festivals and high tea are among the many activities on offer as Brimbank Council gets ready to celebrate carers and senior citizens next month.

Brimbank Mayor Jasmine Nguyen said the council’s Seniors Festival and Carers Week would bring people together.

“We encourage all seniors and carers in Brimbank to book these dates in their diaries so that they can join us in celebrating what makes them so special to all of us,” she said.

Carers Week will be held with no-cost or low-cost events, from Sunday 16 to Saturday 22 October.

Local events include the following:

· Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre tour, 90 Taylors Road, Keilor Downs, on Monday 17 October;

· High tea with “Two Peas in a Podcast’s” Kate Jones, on Wednesday 19 October; and

· “June Again” movie, at Village Cinemas Sunshine, 80 Harvester Road, Sunshine, on Friday 21 October.

Local events as part of the month-long Seniors Festival include the following:

· “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” movie, at the Village Cinemas Sunshine, 80 Harvester Road, Sunshine, on Thursday 6 October; and

· Shows at The Bowery Theatre, at 33 Princess Street, St Albans .
