Celebrating harmony

Albion North Primary School was a sea of orange on Tuesday.

Teachers and students participated in the celebration of Harmony Day organised by the school’s mental health and wellbeing leader Julia Renda, canteen manager Mickey Furniss and junior school council (JSC).

Ms Renda said they ran a number of activities for the students to be part of i.

“The celebration of Harmony Day promoted the message that “Everyone belongs” and reinforced to our students and wider school community the importance of inclusiveness to all Australians,” she said.

“The JSC alongside with students and staff organised and ran a successful day full of cultural activities for our students to experience such as delicious multi-cultural snacks for sale at recess, wearing orange and multi-age rational classroom activities.

“The day was a great success and the teachers and students enjoyed celebrating and honouring the cultural diversity of our school and of Australia.”

The JSC was successful in raising $200 to support The Royal Children’s Hospital from the students wearing orange.
