Brimbank Shopping Centre recognised the local multicultural community with a range of activities for Cultural Diversity Week last week.
The centre had a number of cultural dining offers and free children’s activities including making a Chinese lantern or a boomerang.
The centre also ran a Hands Across Brimbank community project to highlight the diverse backgrounds in the community.
Customers were invited to express themselves and their culture by decorating hand stencils and placing them on a Hands Across Brimbank wall.
Deer Park Primary School had so many students contribute, they got their very own wall.
The centre’s Misiti Neef said it was wonderful seeing the local community, and particularly the kids, share their backgrounds through art.
The displays will be available for customers to view for some time.
“Since Brimbank Shopping Centre opened over 40 years ago, there has been a focus on creating experiences to make everybody feel included and entertained,“ she said.
“Cultural Diversity Week is an event Brimbank Shopping Centre has been participating in for a number of years.
“With many of our customers from different parts of the world we use the week as a way to engage with them and showcase their diverse backgrounds.
“As we emerge from the events of the last twelve months, it’s more important than ever to provide opportunities for customers to return to the centre and connect with each other.”
