Cars impounded after 140km/h ‘race’ in Derrimut

Two Brimbank men face charges after being caught allegedly racing each other more than 60km/h over the speed limit in Derrimut last night.

Brimbank Highway Patrol detected their vehicles heading west on Boundary Road about 11.30pm.

The Nissan Stagea and VL Commodore were side by side and were clocked doing 144km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Both cars were intercepted and immediately impounded for 30 days.

A 26-year-old Deer Park man and 26-year-old Cairnlea man will each be charged on summons with speeding and traffic related offences.
