Caroline Springs man arrested for drugs and firearms

A Caroline Springs man has been arrested after police allegedly found a firearm and drugs in his car in the early hours of Tuesday.

Northcote police were out on patrol in Reservoir when they noticed the car’s occupants, a 32-year-old Caroline Springs man and a 23-year-old Kilmore man, acting suspiciously at the intersection of High and Church streets about 1.40am.

Police pulled over, and searched, the car before allegedly finding a sawn-off loaded shotgun, amphetamines, cannabis and prescription medication.

The duo are expected to be charged with possessing a handgun, two counts of drug possession and two counts of drug trafficking.

The Kilmore man is also expected to be charged with trafficking prescription medication.
