Caroline Springs kinder teacher to Run for the Kids

Melanie Bugeja isn’t just thinking about the fitness benefits of her entry in this year’s Run for the Kids charity event.

The Caroline Springs resident and Creekside Kindergarten teacher is hoping to raise as much money as she can for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The annual event is held in April as a fundraising drive for the hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

Last year, Ms Bugeja raised $300, and she’s hoping to beat that this year.

“Although it doesn’t sound like a lot, we also managed to get parents and families doing the run … it was a great way to get parents supporting the event,” she said.

“Working with children who have battled with a sickness breaks my heart.

“That is why doing this run is so important to me.”

She’ll be competing in the 14.6 kilometre event come race day on Sunday, April 9.
