Caroline Springs jewellery theft

Melton Police are hunting five teenagers after a Caroline Springs jewellery store robbery early on Tuesday morning.

The thieves, believed to be aged roughly between 15 and 18, stole jewellery valued around $30,000 after breaking into Prouds Jewellers around 3am.

Melton Police Detective Acting Sergeant Chris Jackman said they had been analyzing CCTV vision of the theft however no arrests had yet been made.

“The thieves are young,” he said. “They are not known to police.”

The burglars forced open the roller doors at at the CS Square shopping centre store and stole jewellery from the front glass window and back room.

Melton Police First Constable Nicole Zammit said the thieves forced upon a roller security door and smashed glass display cabinets to steal jewellery estimated in value between $20,000 and $30,000.

The store reopened yesterday afternoon at 1pm.
