A Sunshine North man has had his car impounded following reports of an erratic driver on Ballarat Road last night.

Numerous calls were made to triple-0 about 8.30pm after a ute was seen swerving all over the road and almost colliding with other vehicles.

Police said they observed a vehicle matching the callers’ descriptions cut across a median strip, narrowly missing a power pole.

Police stopped the ute on McIntyre Road.

The driver, a 30-year-old Sunshine North man, returned a preliminary breath test at the scene, and later returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.328 – more than six times the legal limit.

His ute was impounded for 30 days and his licence was immediately suspended.

The man is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, driving in a manner dangerous and other traffic related offences.
