Campaign of support for health workers

Western Health’s It’s Up To Us campaign has received an egg-cellent start, with a generous donation from Darrell Lea.

The It’s Up To Us campaign aims to support hospital workers and bring the community together during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an act of generosity, Darrell Lea has donated 6500 Easter eggs to staff working at Western Health’s hospitals.

Staff member Helen said the eggs were a welcome treat.

“At a time like this when everyone is stressed, nice things seem a bit hard to come by, so it has been a really lovely surprise to receive the gift,” she said.

Other local businesses have been jumping on board the campaign too.

The Plough Hotel in Footscray is donating a meal for a Western Health worker for every $30 customers spend on takeaway food.

Jyot se Jyot is delivering 40 home cooked meals to Western Health’s hospitals every week.

Western Health’s director of stakeholder relations and public affairs, Cathy Sommerville, said the support was greatly appreciated.

“Healthcare professionals are working tirelessly on the frontline to keep us all safe during the pandemic and care for those who are most unwell,” she said.

“This campaign allows us to do our bit and provide what they need most – support.

“As a community, we can show our immense appreciation by sharing strength and hope in so many ways.”

It’s Up To Us provides a platform for ideas and ways the community can help Western Health employees during the pandemic, whether it is posting a photo, video, written message or drawing; doing a kind deed; or making much needed PPE equipment.

Support efforts can be shared via the It’s Up To Us Facebook page, Facebook groups or www.itsuptous.com.au.
