Parks Victoria has ramped up its efforts to find a tenant to run Brimbank Park’s cafe.
The cafe will be available on a lease of up to 10 years.
Parks Victoria district manager Craig Bray said the plan is to have new tenants in place by spring.
“I know that park visitors and the local community are eager to see the cafe up-and-running, which we hope can occur during spring 2018,” he said.
“In the interim, we welcome any interest from mobile food and beverage traders to operate in the park.”
Parks Victoria said it is seeking innovative applications that encourage visitation and appreciation of the area’s natural surrounds.
Mr Bray said the opportunity has high potential for prospective tenants and encouraged interested parties to submit an expression of interest.
“The cafe at Brimbank Park is a well-known and much-loved meeting place with a unique natural setting,” he said. “We’re looking forward to seeing innovative proposals that make the most of the opportunities that this venue and location offer.”
The park has been without a cafe since December last year after the Brownstone Cafe shut its doors.
Parks Victoria has tried to secure a mobile food trader since the cafe’s closure, but its attempts have been unsuccessful, leaving the park without a food or drink venue for nearly six months.
